Gake Saves
About Gake Saves

Money works better with a purpose.

Gake Saves is a Rwanda-based fintech startup building the Campus Edition: purpose-based money management for students, and simple meal-subscription payments for the campus restaurants they eat at.

Why we exist

Students receive money in lump sums — school fees, allowance, family support — with no structure attached. It's easy for a month's worth of food money to disappear in the first week. Gake Saves exists to give every franc a job before it's spent.

What "Discipline by Default" means

Instead of relying on willpower, Gake Saves organizes your wallet into named purposes — Food, Savings, Emergency, and purposes you define yourself — and checks every transaction against them. The plan you set is the plan that holds, automatically.

What we're changing

Most financial apps focus on moving money faster. Gake Saves focuses on the decision underneath: what is this money for? A wallet is not just a balance — it's a set of intentions, and the technology should protect them.

Where this is going

Campus Edition is the first product. The same idea — give money a purpose, then hold it to that purpose — is meant to extend beyond students, to families, small businesses, and savings groups who need the same discipline. We're building that foundation carefully, starting with one university community at a time.
